Every connection starts with an invitation.

You might have a story to share, a community to connect, or a way to support the first conversations. There are several ways to help this project take root.

Share an experience

The initial pilot begins with adults whose lives offer a perspective on belonging in Virginia.

Connect a community

Introduce a potential partner, a welcoming space, or someone whose experience could inform the project.

Support the pilot

Explore funding or practical support for recording, transcription, engagement, and story-sharing.

Students can help open a conversation.

The project's next step is to explore recruiting Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) students, potentially as interpreters. Student involvement and interpretation arrangements are still being developed.

If you are a VCU student or can connect the project with students interested in language and community, include that interest and your relevant experience in your inquiry draft below. Roles, preparation, and language needs will need to be discussed before participation.

A little about you. A possible beginning.

An expression of interest is a first step. It is not consent to record or publish your story, and it does not commit you to participate.
